JOIN THE SFCC
To join the SFCC you must have at least three active members endorse your application. See full process below for details.
Membership is $100 and paid annually at the start of each year.
Membership process
Join rides: we ride bikes, a lot. We have one weekly group ride that is fully public: our Friday morning social coffee ride. There are plenty of other large and small group ride opportunities as well, but however you do it, the point is to get out there and meet other people in the club. Members can bring guests on any club ride, just ask!
Meet endorsers (3): joining the SFCC means meeting lots of great people who like to ride bikes! Once you’ve met a few, you’ll need to find three active members to endorse your application. If you don’t feel like you have enough riding history with three members to ask for their endorsements, keep riding with us! Endorsers will be the people responsible for guiding you into the club. We ask that you start building these relationships before you formally apply.
Confirm endorsers: ask your three planned endorsers for confirmation before listing them on your application. Members are limited to three endorsements per year and club executives cannot endorse applicants. Members will happily connect you with other members you’ve ridden with for endorsements if needed. Our Engagement Director will be in touch with each endorser for a five-minute phone call. We want to hear that you’re a safe and experienced rider and about how you’d engage with the club.
Complete application: we ask for basic contact information, a link to your Strava profile, your endorsers’ names, a brief summary of your cycling background, and specifics about your interest in the club. Endorsements are the main factor we consider—we don’t expect applicants to spend more than 15-30 minutes on the application form itself.
We’ll be in touch: our executive board will respond within a few weeks after receiving your application. We only meet once a month, so sometimes it takes longer than others! Our Engagement Director will speak with your endorsers beforehand. In the meantime, keep riding with us! Thank you for your interest in joining the SFCC.
